God of All Cultures and All Times

Romans 10:14b
How can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written," How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!"

As we sat in church today listening to 200 Nicaraguans praise and worship God it became amazing clear to us that God's Word in alive and living and transcends all culture and time. We are so isolated as Americans from so much of the rest of the world that we sometime think of God as OUR God and His language as OUR language. To sit and listen to people praise God and feel the presence of God in that church was powerful and inspiring. Can we be as free to worship God with such passion with all of the blessings that God has given us as Americans as the people of Nicaragua who know they are poor?

It is hard to put into words how inspiring these people are despite their poverty and difficult living conditions. We are connected to these lovely people through our relationship with God and that is something that is truly profound.

Later as we went to the orphanage and loved the beautiful children there the women who serve there daily inspired us to reevaluate what servanthood is. "Nicaragua is built on the backs of women" has been a often quoted evaluation and we experience the dedication of the women at the orphanage who daily care, feed, bath, play and love the abandoned children of Managua.

The orphanage was conversely both an emotionally uplifting and difficult place to be. The more than 30 children range in age from 3 months to about 11. Many of the children have disabilities due to malnutrition but they are so CUTE! We spent the whole afternoon playing, loving, laughing and feeding babies, toddlers and children and had a hard time leaving. Each child had a tragic story but we hope that our day of love will give them an open heart for God's love as they grow.

Pray for the children at the orphanage that they will have a heart open to God
Pray for the orphanage workers who serve so faithfully
Pray for our continued health -- we are all doing great we would love to keep it that way
