Here are some suggestions for what to bring before you leave in the morning.
1. Bring lower denominations of cash -- $1s and $5s. They will take US dollars but you will get change in cordobas. It makes it easier to buy. And you will have opportunity to buy stuff. Cash is better than credit cards though some places will take credit cards -- it's just is a long process to go through. And they won't barter with credit cards because of the processing fee. Also bring clean cash. They won't take torn or written on cash.
2. Can't really say it enough - hand wipes are a must. Purell may kill the germs but it doesn't remove the dirt just moves it around.
3. For going to the beach if you have a chance to go -- Nerf balls for playing baseball with the kids -- they love baseball but we didn't want them to kill each other with the hard balls. We did give them some for going home but at the beach it is something to do. You can only swim for so long. We had a cabana to stay in and tables so maybe some easy card games. Just a thought. Nothing to stress over. We managed without all this stuff and each group will have a different experience with their kids. And to be fair there are horses and quads to ride but those cost and you can only ride horses and quads for so long.
4. Also for the beach maybe kites if you have some small ones laying around. The kids would love it.
5. A small spanish - english dictionary might come in handy when trying to communicate with the children. Most of us got along fine but for those of you who don't know spanish (like me) or are limited it would help to get past a few hurdles without running to someone to translate.
Your call.
